Begrudge paying £15 for 4 numbers

And I begrudge giving away my valuable skills for free

 :P

Sorry, that's not what I wanted to imply, no offence meant and I hope non taken.
However, why pay for something that you can get for free! Especially when the stereo is cr :op anyway ;)
Just don't see why it has to be £25!
TBH if there is no way of getting it free or for a few quid I'll just replace it for an Ipod compatible one, which I am sure being Vx and Omega will not be easy!!

Just to pass on a thought that was mentioned to me...

Is your battery ok?

Has your car been laid up for a while?? As has come up with mine recently, I was having battery problems after the car had been off the road for a while. Gave the battery a good charge and it has not happened since.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Radio Codes
« on: 01 August 2010, 08:40:06 »
I have been havng a few battery issues of late and had to disconnect it.

Obviously now, the radio will not come on because I need the code. Not had the car for long and there is no code with the paper work and do not want to bother the previous owner.

Do I have to go to vauxhall for the code or is there a way to find out the code or bypass it??

Funny you should say that!
I have been having with my battery and I aint gonna tell you what was wrong because it's.....frankly embarrasing. No warning lights since I gave it a good charge (hopefully).
Mine has the xenons too.

Check the alternator is working correctly via Kevins guide in maintenance. Headlight fault unrelated.

Are you dy'ing all this work?

Altenator has been no problem since I bought the car, just seems a coincidence that this warning light came up and the battery was flat. Dunno, maybe it is shorting somewhere because I did leave the car parked with the wheels on full lock if it was on it's way out anyway.
Maybe it is a coincidence and I left the radio on with no volume or something the missus would do....
Incidentally, I have been away for a few days so I jumped the car this morning and the warning never came back.

As for DIY'ing the work, no. I am a Marine Engineer by trade so could, but do not have the time. Also a family mmber of mine has a garage and he is charging me £25/hr for labour which is not too bad at all.

Cheers for the reply guys.

Just been reading a thread about the warning "low beam fld vision" and now know that it is the levelling sensor for the lights. Not the end of the world.....

However, would this cause the battery to go flat? The battery on the car has been fine, starting first time easily, but this is the first time I have seen this warning and the battery is dead! I take it the car should still run without them (sensor/s) or would t stop the car.

Already facing a hefty bill for a new coil pack, crank sensor, cam belt and leads :-[ Not having much luck. Next prob I'm gonna burn it (LOL)!!!!

Omega General Help / Battery removal
« on: 04 December 2010, 11:43:53 »
Could somebody please tell me how to take the battery out of an Omega 2.5 v6. Been pulling and tugging at it and have got sore arms pulling on a 2 ton car!!
Are there clips holding it in?
Cheers.

Omega General Help / Re: Removal of 'vauxhall' lettering

I always use a hairdryer (gets some odd looks mind) gently work the badges until they come off then get some "Stick Stuff Remover" from Halford's. It's really good and the sticky stuff left just comes off with a body work filler tool or a crdit card if you are carefull.
Just take it easy and don't get pee'd off and start going at 'em!
I have also used panel wipe and this is good too.
The last car I did was my 06 vectra. It's a black car with badges on the paint and a chrome strip and using these methods you cannot even tell there were badges on either of these.
Good luck!

Congrats of find.  My thoughts on seeing the amount of shrubbery under bonnet, it may be good to enter it into chelsea flower show ;D.

I think you should keep the leaves, gives it the "distinguished look".

Best of luck mate. Hope it goes well for you.

General Car Chat / Re: Have I bought the wrong car.
« on: 08 February 2011, 16:02:05 »
Like I said, I realise things go wrong with cars and they need taking care of. I have owned plenty of cars with a few Tea Breaks under their belt!

Zero cost motoring is not what I expected. However, all this stuff going wrong in a very short period of time and less than 2000 miles seemed unreasonable to me as I have had cars with twice the mileage with half the problems straight off the bat.

I'm sure everybody know's what I mean when you just feel as though you can't trust it anymore and just waiting for the next thing to go wrong when you turn the key.

However, it is encouraging seeing it is not just me and others out there have had a similar experience. It is comforting to see people saying that once the work is done, Omega's seem to be thought of as reliable enough.

I have decided to keep with it depending on what the MOT in May kicks up. If it fails badly, there may be another thread soon starting with "anybody want an MOT failure Omega?"

So, Cheers.
