By the way, I don't have aircondition, so the thread linked below leads me to believe I don't have a HBV?

I can't remember where this is located on a TD, though. I'm sure someone will be along soon who does. :y
HBV on TD is on turbo side of head. Its not a diverter valve like petrols, its a simple on/off :)

What does this mean? How does this valve work in practice? On photos, I see that the 2.5 TD HBV only has 2 water ports? The other Omegas have 3 ports?

Thanks for you input.

So in other words, I need to connect my WVO coolant system on the heater bypass valve?

Is it near the turbo? Do I access it from underneath the car? Haven't seen a single coolant line near the turbo, except the ones to the aux. coolant pump, but I haven't looked under the car yet.

I think I just figured it out. Unfortunately, it seems like the one with the expansion tank is the return line.
Thats too bad because the other one is nearly impossible to get to without taking the intake off..

Thank you for your reply.

I already have one of those, but my question is which one of the hoses to the heater matrix is the supply line?
The one from the front of the 2.5 TD engine or the back? The one from the front is where the expansion tank is fitted.

Omega General Help / WVO Conversion - Coolant Circuit, Omega 2.5 TD
« on: 28 September 2012, 09:33:22 »
Hello,

I have recently done a wvo conversion on my 95 Omega 2.5 TD, but I have trouble figuring out the coolant cirquit. I have a coolant heated system for my waste vegetable oil, but I can't get high enough temps. I have a flat plate heat exchanger, coolant heated filter and hose in hose fuel supply.

Currently, I have added a aux. coolant pump on the tee where the expansion tank / coolant over flow tank normally is fitted. (This is a tee off the black steel pipe that goes into the heater matrix.) Is this the heater matrix supply line or return line? It comes out of the front head of the engine, right next to the thermostat. I was hoping that this was the supply line, as this is recommend to get most heat for my wvo? The other line that goes out of the heater matrix is behind the engine and nearly impossible to get to, so I'm really hoping that this is the return line.

If my understanding is correct of the coolant circuit, then my problem would probably be that the flat plate heat exchanger is placed higher than the coolant line. I would probably have to move it.

Hope to hear from you guys soon. Excuse me if my writing is a bit hard to understand, English is not my first language.
By the way, the Omega runs smoothly on veggie oil, at least so far - done about 3000 km so far.

Your aware of how to tighten the bush bolts?

No, is there something special to be aware of? Do you know the torque settings?

8
Good thing I asked you guys then :)
Thanks a lot for your quick replies, will have a go at it tomorrow, WITH the plastic.

Hello,

I'm doing a wishbone arm replacement on my Omega, and I notice that there are some plastic pieces that are attached to the front bushings on the wishbone arms. They are removable.

Are these supposed to be there or are they simply transport protection? On my old bushings the plastic was there, but I know these bushing was replaced by a non-mechanic. It also seems like the plastic has made wear on the old bushing.

Hope to hear from you guys soon, about to tackle this job in the morning. Here's a pic of the new one, plastic piece is the white in the middle:

Omega General Help / Re: Rear donut bushing - Mounting direction?
« on: 06 August 2012, 12:43:25 »
No worries.
Looking at the bush from top or bottom you have a centre spacer that the centre bolt goes through. Sorrounding that are two void holes in a semi crirculer dumb bell shape.

The bit with no void hole is the "solid section" of which there are two.

So align the two solid sections, so they point at the dif.

...?

Great thanks. So the solid sections should point straight toward the diff? I don't have the car up on jacks now but that should be pointing somewhat backwards and to the centre of the car right? The diff being at the centre of the axle is placed a bit further back on the car right?

Borrowed this photo from the forum and put an arrow on it. Have I understood it correctly?

Thanks again

Same orientation as the old ones.
That being, with the solid sections of the bush pointing/aligned towards the dif.
Or to put it another way...Solid sections of the bush aligned with the subframe arm.

Thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately, I know for a fact that the old ones are randomly put in without paying attention to the direction.

Could you please explain further what you mean about the solid section? Sorry for not understanding.

Omega General Help / Rear donut bushing - Mounting direction?
« on: 06 August 2012, 09:36:11 »
Hello,

I'm about to do a rear donut bushing replacement, but I'm having a hard time understanding the angle / direction that the new bushings should be put in. In other word (english is my second language) I'm familiar with doing the job to replace them but I cannot for the life of my understand which way the new ones should be put in to avoid poor handling. I've read the varous thread on the topic, even the guide in the maintenance section where ChrisGixer explains it, but I still not understand it.

Could somebody please be so kind to explain it "for dummies"? Perhaps with a photo, that would be great. Thank you for reading

Great news Remo. I'm glad it worked for you even though an expensive repair. Well done indeed.  :y :y

Thanks a lot! There's nothing like fixing something that previously seemed impossible to figure out. Now I just need to get the car chipped, alltough it seems difficult with my excisting chip. (Been in contact with our chip guy here)

Actually, this gearbox repair costed me about £55 in total since I did the job myself and bought used ECU from Germany.

If I would have left the car with the dealer here in Norway, the job would have costed about £1500 ;D ;D (loosely quote from a guy at the dealer when I spoke to him about replacing ECU)

Problem solved! Finally!

The gearbox ECU arrived from Germany yesterday and this evening I replaced the old with this new (used) ECU. Went out for a drive and the gearbox works as smoothly as ever!

Even sport and winter mode is back to normal.
I can't tell how happy I am to finally figure this out.

THANKS to all of you for your help and kind suggestions. This is a great forum. Also, hopefully other with similar problem can benefit from this thread.

Just fitted my newly arrived Irmscher grill (slightly customized by me). This was a VX-grill so I removed the chrome V and just kept the black mesh and then fitted a "2010"-look VX-griffin badge, even tough I have an Opel ;D

People will probably wonder what kind of car I'm driving, not many Vauxhall's in Norway

Interesting development!

Today I used a towing wagon (not sure if this is what it's called in English, but it's what one uses to move furniture ect.)

After I connect the electrical connector to the towing wagon, the "ABS" warning light appeared. When I drove around with the wagon, the light both come on and went off.

Is this either:
- Because the wagon doesn't have ABS-brakes and the car recognizes that? (the wagon does have normal brakes)
or:
- Because there's actually a problem with the abs-sensors that may potentially also cause the gearbox problem?

It is very icey and slippery outside and the ABS-brakes all seemed to work as they should.

I seem to remember to have read some threads about abs-sensors causing gearbox problems?

Tried to to a diagnosis but there's ones any fault codes. My laptop battery died in the cold weather before I could read the "chassis" fault codes. Not sure which category the ABS-sensors goes under.
