TB is (sort of) right... Vans were always £1.50 when cars were £1, even car derived vans >:( Really used to grip my poo  >:(

I have a Dart Tag (3 now actually as both my vans have one too) as you get cheaper crossings and no faffing with coins :y

i think for a car with a tag it is still 97p??...that will go up
Currently £1 for a car (so saves 50p) and £1.75 for vans, or 2 axle goods vehicles as they describe them (saving 25p)

I doubt very much the tag charges will be unaffected.  >:( :'(

As LD says, it's definitely cheaper if you have a Dart-tag...

When it was £1 in a car, it was 97p with a tag.  When it went up to £1.50 in a car, it only went up to £1 with a tag, so quite a significant saving.  Especially if, as was the case with me, you spend half your life driving round London on the M25...

Good to see another Government department is only putting up the price by the rate of inflation.  >:( >:( >:( >:(

I use the Severn Bridge quite a lot and always use the coin bin lanes. I often collect a nice little rebate from the coin return/reject and change  slots!  ;)

Had a letter Monday about it. From October 7th:

Cars go from £1 to £1.33 (TAG), £1.50 to £2 Cash
2 Axle Goods £1.75 to £2.19 (TAG), £2 to £2.50 Cash
Multi Axle Goods £3.20 to £4.33 (TAG), £3.70 to £5 Cash

And there's another rise planned in 2014 ::)

Not exactly a rise anywhere near in line with inflation ::) >:(

Still, they've got us by the balls... If you need to go that way frequently there is no other viable option at present. They are, however, keeping the night time crossings free ::)

The Severn crossing is £6!!!  >:(  and that's to go into Wales!!  :-X

On LPG it's probably cheaper to go on up the M5 to Gloucester and cross the river there!!  ::)

Consider just how much we'd think reasonable if entering Wales was free and the toll paid on leaving.

Vehicles with a Dart Tag, the charges are going up as follows:

Car: £1.33
2 Axle Goods: £2.19
Multi Axle Goods: £4.33

Vehicles without a Dart Tag are now going to be:

Car: £2.00
2 Axle Goods: £2.50
Multi Axle Goods: £5.00

It's not actually the Government putting the price up, because it's owned by a French (I believe) company, who pay the Government for the contract.

Stupid thing is, you only pay one-way at Wales, and there is no good reason why when the bridge opened it shouldn't have been free & double the tunnel charge. There own website figures show it's roughly equal both ways, and no-one in there right mind would go south on the bridge, & all the way to the Blackwall tunnel to avoid the cost.

It is the largest transport con on earth, especially as it's now run by the French, so much so that they've changed the law to allow average speed cameras on privately run roads, which is why they've been up for over 3 years, but only active in the last month.

1st tunnel "it'll be free when it's paid for"
"oh hang on, we need another tunnel, it'll be free when it's paid for"
"oh hang on, we need a bridge, it'll be free when it's paid for"

Several years later, it's now no more than a cash cow. I understand it needs funds for escorts for dangerous goods, and for when they have to shut the bridge in a stiff breeze.

The congestion is caused solely by the booths, irrespective of size/weight/country of origin.

If they're gonna f**k us over, at least they could do it electronically with ANPR like the other great con charge......at least then we wouldn't have to pay for the hours of delay there

I do believe there is some form of charter whereby the french can't change the price without permission.....so it's still the governments fault
