Tunnie,

I'm taking a guess with the smilie on your post that the cam sensor is the easiest and possibly the cheapest to change!!!!

Im gonna get it down to the garage and ask them to change the cam sensor but ask for them to supply a genuine Vauxhall part. Hopefully that should solve it

Tim

Its a standard thumbs up smiley! But at Chrimbo it does have an extra smile.

If you have basic tools, the cam sensor is a doddle to change. Really is just a 10 minute job.

15mm spanner on aux belt tensioner, whip that off.

Can't remember off hand, think E12 on cambelt cover, just a few bolts. Loom tray and 10mm bolt, maybe 13mm, to release that tray for movement.

Take coil plug loom off at the back of the "Ecotec" black plastic cover, to allow that to slide back and out. With cambelt cover removed, its a tiny bolt right up in between the cams.

With that bolt removed, cam sensor pulls up & just swap it over  :)

Thanks for all the replies, thinking I might change both to make sure!!! Get both done at same time less labour lol

The pain of it all is that ive been out in the car today and its not murmured!!! No problem with the starting or anything......I go out to it 2 minutes ago and theres the EML!!!! Beggars belief lol

On a 2.2 it always seems show up faulty when hot starting, cold starts tend to be fine  ;)

Just an update, I had the ecu read properly and it showed a few codes including the camshaft sensor. All of the other 4 codes that showed the guy at the garage said were related to the sensor throwing faults into the auto box!!!

Picked up new sensor and fitting it Sunday morning

Thanks to everyone for your advice with this problem
