Not sure, windows did an update and it stopped working, I have registery scanner which I run regularly. :)

After the update, did any dialog boxes pop up when you first clicked on Internet Explorer?

BTW, I'd check with swmbo and see if she's aware of a firewall.

Try to see what the updates are before you allow it to install them as some are of no use and can cause system probs occasionally with regard to running registry scanner (program) they wont do much good , they only help out when system/pc running slow more likely you may have some adware crap on (you wont know you have it) it just gets on to your pc through surfing websites as they want to know what your viewing etc, there the things that mess your pc up you need to run a program to remove all that as they are a pain in the bum m8, theres  a cple of free versions to download  to shift it....
