As I've mentioned before, I'm 5'2".  You'd probably need a micrometer to measure my diurnal shrinkage.

There's no problem with the roofline or anything else on the Omega - like all luxury cars, it was designed by short fat men for their personal comfort.  On most Fords, I need a cushion or I can't see over the steering wheel and reach the pedals at the same time :(

I guess you start off the day all perky and fresh and thinking you are king of the hill.

During the day the other half / kids / parents / relations / job / mortgage /  loans / credit crunch / news / weather / baldness / weight etc. etc.  gradually make you sink further and further into the seat until you just about slide out of the car at sill level when you get home .

6' 1" in the am   5' 6" by the evening !

The data I have was collected from an earlier post about height and BMI. I used it to work out the height and weight of an average "OOFer" (not that there is any such thing).

All the data I have is here for your info.

Interesting stuff.

Are you aware about the data protection act regards storing data about people on computer's?

Just looked this up

Why we are taller in morning than in evening?

Answer

We are taller in the morning than in the evening because during normal activities during the day the cartilage in our knees and other areas slowly compress, but when you go to sleep and rest the cartilage goes back to normal. On average we are about 1cm taller the morning than in the evening.

The other component to this phenomenon is that the joint capsules loose some of their synovial fluid and the connective tissues around the joints tend to become compressed throughout the day from activity and trying to counter the affects of gravity.

Also, the discs of the spine do the same thing. During the night, they resorb more fluid making them thicker and the person taller. While walking or being upright during the day, they slowly lose some of this fluid and become thinner.
