Whats the best Flight Sim to get.

Just been looking at this.

http://www.play.com/Games/PC/4-/1124935/Microsoft-Flight-Simulator-X-Deluxe-Edition/Product.html

That's what I've just got and I'm very impressed.

It all depends what you're after. Personally, I'm not so keen on the shoot -em up type sims, as I prefer civil airliners. Using this sim you can go out and purchase (what I may well do - see link above) a very complex aircraft. A friend of mine always starts his sim in a "cold and dark" scenario. He has to fire up all the electrical circuitry in his airbus, start the APU, go through all the pre-flight checks, program the flight director with waypoints, and so on. His daughter flew to Sharm-el-Sheik recently and, at the same time, he flew on the sim and "arrived" within a minute of his daughter in real time. Don't think I could ever get into it that much as I have a real life to lead  ;), but it is VERY absorbing. I believe the RAF and many others use MS flightsim in training operations. It is very realistic, and great fun.  :y

I may well treat myself to that.

I also play a lot of Command and Conquer.
Unreal Tournament.
Need for Speed

Plus I have an Xbox and PS2 which I reckon at leat one of them will get updated in the new Year.

Might go for the Blueray on the PS3 and Gran Tourismo.

You'll end up going the way of a couple of guys at the gliding club. 3 DLP projectors and the front half of an old glider fuselage with the controls hooked up to a PC, all in a darkened room.  8-)

To its' credit, it's very realistic, and we've had some success training pilots using it. (one of whom went solo after only a handful of flights in a "real" glider).

This film was all created on FSX. It's stunning, and amusing, but must have taken a huge amount of production.
