Ah yes, the face to face shaking of head whilst saying yes.  Always confusing that one when you ask them a yes/no answer ;D

The guys in the office (we tend to drag them over to UK if its an important deployment) always tend to be better - I guess a case of using language all day every day, and learning our oddities...

i put in a lot of hrs and im paid by the hr so it all ads up, but i get no sick pay hiliday pay and i get laid off at an hrs notice most of the time, some companies let you know a week in advance but most of them are thanks very much and goodbye. a good job i can earn up to 250 a day then i can go down to 160  a day but now there offering 80 a day. with no weekend work so not worth bothering about. but im a real grafter and know my job well so expect good money for my services. swings and roundabouts im afraid

Fair play too you...if you have the skills too attract that sort of money then why not.

Im sure the computer bods would earn good money due too there skills.

Regards the recession and trades i was hoping they would become a little more affordable, well they sure aint round my way. :(

Plumber quoted £450 for a days work...take out a sink toilet and bath and refit....and thats with me supplying and getting rid of old suite. :o

Thats a weeks wages for me...gross wage  :'(22525
Don't believe it - unless you have a very special skillset thats currently in demand (and not many are), the rates are in freefall.  Most 'standard' run-of-the-mill IT contractors have gone from their £30/40ph to around McDonalds wages. Those who have a contract that is.
I would agree with TB here, IT isn't the cash cow everyone thnks it is.

I'm glad I got out when I did, now I earn twice as much as I did, albeit in France where employer's contribution is 70% of the wage :o.  Now I work for a woman me and the wife call Betty (but only at home!)  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Trouble we find is something gets lost in the translation from English to Hindi when the requirements/specs are agreed with the software company  >:(

Still, the bean counters can't see that, and don't care it takes 3 times as long to deploy anything....

THere is also the understanding of the customer. THe Indian houses can be fast but do they understand what is required
