I reckon it could, but it does rely on the strain releif, as the cable will always be stressed there.  Trouble is, I need it to be mega reliable, and cannot allow it fail - I have people travel significant distances to have tech2 work done.

So, need to get a replacement, THEN see if something can be done with this one so it can be used as a spare.
