EA meet......another top OOF weekend
« on: 05 July 2009, 22:46:56 »

Another fantastic OOF weekend at East Anglia :y Unfortunately missed out on the Friday night drunkeness and debauchery as didn't get there until Saturday lunchtime. :'( Don't think I've ever seen so many OOFer's wandering about with such sore heads when we arrived! ;D ;D Apparently around 5 bottles of single malt was disposed of along with copious amonts of beer. ::) Anyway, tried to revive them with a bit of barbie fodder and more beer and was a great day and evening but somewhat subdued (apparently) after Friday night's shinnanigans. ::) Fantastic weather all weekend and am now hobbling around with severely sunburned feet!! Me and my mate Steve have some great pics but haven't had time to upload yet so will get them posted in a day or so. Got to say big thanks to Guy for my surprise pressie......a new chef's hat embossed with "BAR-B-Q BOSS"....nice one Guy. :y Also big thanks to Paul for getting things so well organised and Jaime for the (bloody difficult) quiz as usual - top job. :y Finally thanks to Tonygnome and Jaime for fitting my new coolant header tank (and burning their fingers trying to find lost circlip ;D) and Tech2 diags and for everyone that attended for making it such a great weekend. :y :y :y

Going by the piccies it looks like it was a cracking meet.

Has anyone suggested a national meet yet?

A biggie? :o 8-) :-?

There's normally a couple of biggies a year - previously at the Lakes and Newent. There's another biggiie at Newent coming up in September which is always a cracker (even though a bit "damp" last year!) See here.......

The York meet is the one to look out for, quite central, particularly as the Lakes did not happen this year. Toilets/showers not great but site is excellent and remember we are camping. Was very cold this year but still a great event..... :y :y :y

We try and have a North England one annually, so that the Scots can join in - previous 2 years, this was in the Lake District, but that didn't happen this year due to the interbreed campsite owners  >:(

York was held as a replacement, but is obviously a little further south.

Newent, which looks like being a regular, having its 3rd year, is in September, but is obviously a long way for those above Hadrian  :'(.

Lead failed. Cheapest replacement I can find so far is $175 + postage + customs + admin fee that courier charges for customs :(

What a bugger!! :'(
I'm sure members that you've helped out with the Tech2  over the years (including me) wouldn't mind making a small contribution. I would certainly be prepared to help with a few quid. Why not start a thread for "Save The Boy's Tech 2" ;)

No.  Its why I have to charge the rates I do for Tech2 work.  I know it will never cover the original purchase prices, but hopefully covers costs of running them (parts are stupid money, for eg, the 32Mb memory card is £300), and any extra money offsets the original purchase price
