My Opel Kadett 1200 was same shape as a chevette.
The front end wasn't  ;)
Pretty sure the Kadett had a different engine to the viva derived engine in the shovitt, same floorpan and probably some body panels/ suspension/ brakes etc. :y

No, it was based on the Viva.
Correct, and as the Viva and its big brothers were early seventies designs there wouldnt have been an Opel connection, I believe that came about in 1976 iirc. :-/

i'd rather spend £20-25k on a Lotus Carlton than any car I can think of  :y

Sod that - I'd be looking at an Aston Martin DB7 at least.........newer and cheaper to keep on the road! :y

One was sold with less than 20 miles on the clock a couple of years ago, had sat in a show room all it's life, only ever ventured out for an MOT and back.  Asking price I think was £20k

Same year the was also a brand spanker and never been on the road, think it had 1 mile on the clock, was on autotrader for £150k

I bet the most of the rubber bits were fubar!
