The lines are digitally lengthened left to right so that they can still calculate your actual speed.. If this was true EVERYONE would be driving in the middle of the road, lol....
So, why do some site have lines on the other side of the road, even when the camera is only 'looking' in one direction? ie

Some are set to flash (as a warning) for vehicles travelling in the opposite direction to that originally intended.
Some are set as forward facing/taking/nicking cameras as well...
Paint marks on the road are called 'ruler' marks as, once a print is made, if a ruler is placed between marks on related photographs, relative speed of vehicles can be confirmed rather than simply reliant on the doppler technology within the kit in the first place - in other words, if the case is argued after NIP is served.....

Perhaps if paint marks are missing then case can be argued? After you set a stated case, I'll perhaps take further notice.....
