Well the real cost of war has commenced, proving buying freedom for others does not come cheap.

Last night apparently 110 Tomahawk missiles were launched from American ships and a British submarine.  I have heard they cost £300,000 apiece.  You can do the sums! ::) ::) ;)

You have to bare in mind though Lizzie that they have a "best before" date on them so we had to use them up! ::)

Now this is when I get bloody angry!! >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

Yesterday and before the media, especially the BBC and ITV, were full of stories about Gaddafi evaporating the rebels, and how he had the weapons, so needed to be stopped.  The International community, and crucially the Arab League / African Union were solidly behind military action to rescue the Arab people.  So far so good.

Today though, after the International Coalition have taken decisive action to take out Gaddafi's military hardware, what do we get?

The bloody Arabs saying the coalition have gone further than they agreed to, with the BBC and ITV broadcasting this, along with giving air time to pro-Gaddafi film of "victims" in hospital being treated, and speeches being made by Gaddafi sons / supporters!  All anti the wicked West!! In addition air time has been given now to those of our own nation protesting against war! >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

EDIT  - CENSORED BY ME!! What was writen here could insult certain people in the world!! ::) ::) :P :P :P :-X :-X :-X

Our brave boys and girls are risking their lives in our aircraft to defend Arab people from Gaddafi, but already the Arab League is changing its mind and criticizing our forces!  Going weak at the knees!  Why didn't they refuse to agree with the action to start with, and then perhaps nothing would have happened apart from Gaddafi killing his own?!

I support the user of military action when it is needed, and especially when it is requested by the people of a country under attack.  Now I say in this instance, stop the air forces gathering and taking any action, with them all going home!  Leave the Libyans and the Arab League to it! ::) ::) ::) ::)

Rant mode off! 8-) 8-)

I certainly agree with that cem.

Each nation currently involved in action over/in Libya has their own vision of what any eventual resolution should provide for their efforts to help 'liberate the people'.

It is interesting to note that it was a Vanguard class submarine that has fired off 124 Tomahawk missiles, over the last 24 hours, from "somewhere in the Mediterranean".

Welcome to the new age where big surface ships are redundant in so many cases, and especially in a full scale war with a major military country that one day, but heaven forbid, we could face.

There has been so much talk of Britain's carriers, or current lack of them, but they are actually a wonderful target for the enemy to destroy, and that is why we are now in the age of long range fighters, with in flight re-fueling and missiles from very large submarines.   ;) ;)
