Well, I got my replacement starter today and I put it in by removing the manifold, definately much easier except for the back 3 lower nuts I had to remove, my socket wouldn't get in, so I had to resort to twisting my arm around with a ratchet spanner...  But, All done and definately easier than from underneath...
