rob, that one that you highlighted is omega specific, right? the one that i put in my first post is universal. i think for the sake of a few quid id muchj rather have a universal one so i could plug up to the wife's focusd too

As Kevin says, your 2.5 Omega is NOT OBDII complient so the Maxscan won't talk to your car, you can read your car's engine codes with a paper clip. No idea about the Focus.

so is my 2.5L both EOBD's? presumably that stands for early on board diagnostics? :)

Your 2.5 is not EOBD compliant. EOBD is the euro version of ODBII, and pretty much 100% compatible, so EOBD and OBDII can be used interchangably.

The only Omegas that are EOBD compliant are 2.2 (petrol and diesel), 2.6 and 3.2. Not sure about the 2.5DTi, suspect it is.

I vaguely remember writing an FAQ as well. If it needs updating, let me know whats unclear ;)
