Anyone else feel like parting with their car for something that runs a fair bit more economically??

At an average of 29.9mpg since I have had her (6 months), I am finding the rising fuel costs a tad crippling, and as such am considering selling my rather lovely Omega for something a little less juicy.  Fuel has gone up over 20% since I bought the car, it's way beyond a joke now.

Ride it out cos the fuel has to come down at some point. Some members may now think i am on the glue but i do think it will plus the bigger cars are not selling well at the mo so you could stand to loose a lot of money selling it just to buy a car that you might not like and try to save £10 a week on fuel.
Have a good long think about it but i can tell you now my two migs are staying :y

Trouble is I'm not so sure it will come down significantly and even if it did, you can bet your bottom dollar that the Chancellor would bang a few extra pence tax on it that he was planning to do anyway. >:(

Interesting article here: http://www.physorg.com/news134646313.html

Extract: "Since 2003, worldwide oil prices have quadrupled. According to a new study, the price of oil is rising at a faster-than-exponential rate, and cannot be sustained. In other words, we’re in the midst of an oil bubble, say researchers Didier Sornette and Ryan Woodard of ETH Zurich in Switzerland and Wei-Xing Zhou of the East China University of Science and Technology in Shanghai, China...

...A comparison of supply and demand showed that, most recently, supply has been exceeding demand by more than a half million barrels per day."

Yes, it IS a bubble. Question is, when will it burst?

Your lucky at 29.9mpg av , my comp reckons im averaging 19mpg  :o
Tho that is on lpg mind....goes up a tad on petrol.

Tho i do a lot of town work.....av speed is usually 19mph.

Im no better off now running an omega on lpg than running a diesel.

I used to be able to get lpg for 30ppl......now im paying 59ppl

Ive chatted to a mate......who runs a VW passat 1.9TD Auto as a taxi........he works roughly the same hours a me......he bungs in £20 of diesel a day........i use £20 of lpg a day.....so no advantage to me anymore.  :(

End of November or sooner......my omega will be for sale.....its got until then left on its plating.....then im going back to diesel.

I would agree. The whole thing is tied into the global warming scam, through which lefties want to bring the western industrialised world to its knees. There is a very odd alliance between the hard lefties and people who want power and are making money out of it all. Al Gore, to name just one.

If i sell my Omega and buy a small car of the same age it will cost me 2 or 3 times as much to buy.
I would rather spend that money on petrol and tyres.
