Pages 4 and 5 of The Times today.
On page 4 we have a report on the giant TV screens to be installed all over the country so that the Great British Public can have constant updates on the Beijing Olymic Games. With sound for 18 hours a day.
On page 5 we have a report on a bloke who got fined for smoking in his own van, even though it was a private vehicle. Some council smartarse designated it as a "workplace" and fined him £30 for smoking.
I just wonder how many of the GBP actually give a monkey's about the Olympics. Surely anyone who cares enough about it can bloody well stay at home and watch it on the TV in their living room. These giant screens are going to cost £45 million, partly funded by the BBC and the National Lottery. Your licence fee. Our Good Causes.
I gave up smoking 8 years ago, because it was affecting my health. It's not good to smoke, but it's your own personal decision. OK, stop people smoking at work if it affects others, but surely it shouldn't be illegal for consenting adults to gather somewhere amenable and enjoy thier tobacco. I really feel for the poor buggers who have to stand outside the office in the designated smoking area which is allowed a roof, but can only have two walls.
Who's running this country? We don't need an election, we need a bloody (literally) revolution.
How do you build a barricade? We only need a single wall, with no roof, to stand them against!
No smileys. No smiles.
