I pickle my own onions but my dad does his own eggs (and anything else if it doesn't move, cherry tomato's work well),
they have been banned from their next door neighbours house though due to the gaseous emissions

Excellent, got a surplus of free range eggs so will try with some chilli etc. Malt vinegar will be difficult for me to find its all cider vinegar here.

See if you can get Sarsons pickling vinegar...its already spiced..saves messing about making your own...then just add ingredients to taste.
