Only slight risk with an AR25 is that there are likely to be quite a few knackered ones around. Definately try and find one from a 2.0 not a V6, I'd say.

Now has two miggs in our house hold. Both 2.0ltr 16v lpg'd. a MFL and a FL.

Sorry, 2.5 Turbo Diesel.  It wrecks AR25s in 100 - 120k....

Marie,

Just a thought.  When you changed the fluid the last time, did you top it up with the engine running?  If not, the level will now be significantly too low and would be causing problems.

yes i did watch the garage run her warm checking the levels. just wondering whether they might have put the wrong grade oil in? is this possible and would it have these effects?


this fault only happens on reverse. once warm you have no hope of getting it into reverse even when shes cold its a snails pace and as i said before you have to power down and even then sometimes that wont work ether.

the gear box will travel through all the other gears ok. is there anything i could try before replacing it. or ?

TBH I think that's unlikely unless they are real numpties.   Dex3 is pretty much standard ATF.
