well all i can say is that according to parkers the auto 2.0 is only supposed to do 121 ish which i found to be true and then when i swapped them to the denso plugs i had 130 an i'd seen 125 a few times without half as much effort! so maybe it was plugs being buggered but i know something.. when i changed them and started it i got alot of oil burnt off!

I'm with the others - if you noticed an improvement, it was because your old plugs were shagged.  Much like fitting some new super duper wiper - it must be a better design as you can now see in the rain ;)

Saying that, I do fit iridium plugs to her Rover, but that is because that is what they specify for some reason...

K series cylinder temps are stupidly high.....its yet another one of the many things that helps insure they always have fresh head gaskets!  ;D

According to people in the know, that is the primary reason for HG failure - apparently its run right at the temp limit before some kind of reaction happens between head/block/gasket.

I shoved in what the manufacturer specifies ;) - K series is an engine you stick to what Rover says ;)

Oddly, possibly unrelated, but the pot on which her HG failed was the one that had a faulty plug....

Totaly different setup....they have two spark plugs (although some have the equivalent of two plugs integrated into one)...and hence two sparks per cylinder
