Now I had that on my cav a couple of years ago. Turned out the top bolt between the hub and strut on the front had broken so everytime it turned it would tip a bit and rub the rim edge on the strut.

Does the noise only appear when turning one corner?  Dissappear when going opposite corner?  Potential wheel bearing.

Jack up suspect corner, grasp wheel at 3/9 the 12/6 position and try to find any free play by pushing/pulling with each hand.  Repeat with alternate positions.  Then repeat with footbrake applied.  If relative movement is the same, then fubar wishbonesd or suspension components.  If play goes with footbrake applied, then wheelbearing.

Howtoo in maint section and jobs a good un'....   :y

ok. took wheel off, removed caliper/pads & mounting bracket. removed disc. out of curosity i spun the hub. sounds like a bag of grated iron filings(rough) going round, think its fubbered even though i couldnt find any play in it with the wheel on.  :-?

paul, its just gone through an mot & no mention of wishbones on it. got me baffled this one has.  :o

Didn't realise it's just been mot'd... Still check them though... Front bush :y :y

Wouldn't be the first time an MOT tester has missed something ::) ::)

Other than that... Start checking everything methodically :y :y
Of 13 cars attending the wim open day, 12 made it on the lift, ten of those could not be set up, due mainly to buggerd wishbone bushes. All cars had a valid MOT!

As the bushes wear, the wishbone moves position in the sub frame clamp, in some cases they move enough to rub on the subframe bracket.

If the noise is suspension related, ie as the wait of the car moves when cornering, then personally i would strongly suspecst wishbones.

The old wishbones in my curren car used to creak over speed humps from cold. The noise has gone with new items fitted. Hth
