I got mine running like it is. Apparently the engine has covered a couple of thousand miles before it started running like a shed. They just sat it up for 3 months and left it like that. Then Muggins got to hear about it and got tempted in. Just what I need another basket case.

When I checked my leads with the multimeter, one lead has zero resistance, but engine misfires only under some conditions.  Therefore, the lead must be internally sparking over to deliver a weaker spark at the plug.  Fitting new Bosch leads next week and if problem is solved I'll post here again.  Maybe your problem is similar.

Anyone near you got the ability to clear codes and reset block learn values, and see what comes back?

Also, 135 sounds like EGR, is it properly connected?

What does this wire do?  I took this photo during the rebuild.  There is a wire which I have (incorrectly i think) fed behind the rear cambelt cover.  In the photo it comes out beside the altenator and as can be seen, at some stage someone has done a poor looking (masking tape) repair to the wire.  Could it be effecting my fault code 19 error?

For some reason I cant insert the image!!!  Basically this connects to a wire emerging from the front cable transfer tray on the front of the cambelt cover.

Thanks The Boy,  The EGR copper pipe connection was loose (ish) when I had off during rebuild so I couldnt resist tightening.  The elec connector all seems to be OK but I'll have anothe look.

Could the knock sensor be part of my problem do you think?

Knock sensor will make the car appear to hold back above around 2k rpm, and should bring on EML (and store a code)

It's not that then.  No EML and no probs reving to 5K+.  I don't like to push it past that.  I would note though that some times at higher revs it it does all seem to be firing properly.  Not allways but definately some times.

Today I fitted new plug leads and my similar problem has completely cleared.  Is it possible one of your leads broke while you did the rebuild?  At least check them for resistance/continuity with multimeter to eliminate as possibility.

Thanks Jampy.  I'll check them out when I get back from working abroad in a couple of weeks.  Out of interest what did you pay for leads? :y

My Bosch leads cost £20.78 plus £4.49 postage from Powersparks on ebay.  The leads for your car would cost £39.95 plus £4.49 postage.  My leads were slightly longer that the originals but the extra allowed more slack at the Dis pack.  Your leads can be seen on this link:
