Misfire and fault codes
« on: 13 April 2009, 13:39:41 »

Hi All,

Since rebuilding the top end of my 2.5 V6, an annoying misfire has developed.  It ran beautifully for a few hours but rarely seemed to drop a pot, now ticks over bumpy and continues to be unbalanced at any higher revs.  (It has not been run on the road yet)

Paper clip test gives (running and stopped):
12
19 (incorrect rpm signal)
135 (Teltale (checklight) low voltage
12

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Martin :-/

cranksensor is buggered, needs changing before you take it on the road.  The 135 can be safely ignored.

Thanks The Boy,  do you think that will account for the seeming misfire? :y

Whilst I am getting a new cam sensor sorted, just a note that as if to check the sensor, I disconnected it completely at the connection to the rear of the plenium and tried to start.  It made no difference and ran exactly the same!!! Strange, I wouldn't have expected it to run at all.  Any comments... :-?

obvious question, are you sure it was the crank sensor plug?

 :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

Just changed the crank sensor.  Started up... a fraction better perhaps but still obvious misfire!!  Paperclipped again and got the same 12,19,135,12 !!!!!!

I've tried prozac but that hasn't realy helped.  Any thoughts any one?

Sorry bud I can't help. I'm trying to get rid of code 19 AND 10 other codes from mine. I did the same as you have replaced the crank sensor with no joy. I've also replaced the dis pack. Next step for me is loom change and if that fails then another ecu.

Best of luck mate. If you do find the reason make sure to post it up. You never know it might help me  :y

Mine is running like a lumpy old diesel. Misfires, back fires and the idle is very poor

5. I'd be happy with that mines more like 3 and half!!!. Mine to has not long had a top end rebuild. I'm picking the loom up tomorrow. If that works I'll try finding the fault in the old one to give you a heads up.

Superb Doz, I hope you get sorted and I'm keen to know how you get on.  Mine was running like new after the rebuild but slowly deteriorated.  Was yours running OK?

Checked spark plugs, they were sound and have only done about 500mikes since new.  It hasn't done a lot to deteriorate the leads since running beautifully.  It hasn't been on the road only ticking over really for 10 maybe 20 mins at a time.  Just sort of slowly happened.

Fully answering, haven't checked the leads.

FC 19 is still a mystery though.  Can the code history be wiped or does it jus sotr itself out?
