Ok so now I think I've found why I got my 3.0 Elite Manual so cheap. Coupled to the fact it has a short MOT and the baffles in the exhaust have gone, another problem reared its unwelcome head today.
Took a trip to Christchurch down the dual carriageway, no problems on the way up. However, on the way back I was cruising along at about 65 (heavy traffic) with the cruise on. All of a sudden she starts hesitating, then stops a couple of seconds later. Few more seconds it happens again so I whack the hazards on and pull over into a convienently placed layby. As I come to a halt the dash lights come on and the engine dies
My first though was a vacuum leak as I was using cruise so I did a quick check of all the visible hoses but nothing seems amiss. Anyway after a couple of minutes looking for the cause nothing appears to be out of place so I carry on. 5 miles down the road and the traffic comes to a halt before the roundabout, there I am crawling along (car not liking it due to the baffles) and I get the same hesitation/powerloss, then the engine dies again. I restart and after a couple more seconds it goes again, this time I manage to pull over to the side. On trying to start up again I find it doesn't want to. It'll crank, catch and then die.
Now at this point I am now thinking fuel starvation or possibly the baffles are causing an issue.
I get her started again and on exiting the roundabout go to full throttle, as I do this and get to about 6k the EML comes on but still revs up to the limiter.
Just wondering what on earth can be causing this? I'm going to try seeing if any code is stored if I can find a paperclip but just thought I'd throw it out to you for some second opinions.
While I'm here another question:
It was my understanding that Elites (and those with Xenons especially) had headlight washers fitted? How come mine doesn't? It does have Xenons.
Thanks
