Should be getting the box back today but I only have around 3L of DexIII in the garage.

What's the capacity of the AR35 gearbox?

If you've drained the lot including the torque converter it'll need 8 or 9 litres.

If you're just dropping the sumps, that's correct. Some remains in the torque converter though. In this case, TC has been removed too.

Yep TC removed and I also stood for around half an hour emptying it very slowly over a basin. They start to weigh a bit after that time! :D

Not as much as when SWMBO belts you over the head with it for getting ATF in the sink. :D

Lol! She caught me once with a stripped down RB25 head in the dining room. She wasn't impressed! :D

Anyways, lets talk torque settings.

TC to flywheel, and the bolts holding the box on if possible. :)

Mount transmission on engine and attach to cylinder block with transmission fastening bolts (M12) – tightening torque 60 Nm / 44.3 lbf. ft.

Install transmission fastening bolts (M8) to upper part of oil pan – tightening torque 20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft.

Detach transmission from workshop crane.

Attach torque converter to drive disc – tightening torque 30 Nm / 22 lbf. ft. Install closure plugs for torque converter housing.

Make sure the torque converter is fully back into the bellhousing before fitting (it should rub on the bell housing when turned).

Should say- the above is for a V6. Couldn't find equivalent info for the TD but if the fasteners are the same size I'd use the same settings.

i was thinking of asking if anyone had an old box to take apart just to see whats in there and, hopefully, sus out how it works....maybe...

Been there, tried that. Learnt more about the mind of the bloke who must have sat down and designed it than the box itself. :o
