Looks like I have the same problem.
When the drivers side is on setting 1 my arse starts to feel like sitting inside the oven. And only the bottom part of the seat is heated. Upper part stays cold :-?
Passengers side works ok

Driver's side seat heater runs on full power even when "1" selected.

Any ideas where to start looking? (In order of "easiest to check" first please! :))

I had this problem just before the elements burnt out. On setting 1 in was red hot, too hot in fact and just after that an awful smell of burning (could have been my arse  ;D) and then no more heated drivers seat. :'( Being leather I can't replace elements either.

Ok. Here's another question. If I disconnect the seat heater element connector, then select 1 - 5 in sequence, what voltages should I expect to find on what pins? (PS, where's the connector?!)

'Coz if the control circuitry has failed I will rig up some sort of inline controller - rather than go pulling dash panels down! (But I need to know what it has to do first.)
