I'd be jacking the car up to crawl under it to connect 12v to the alternator before I started breaking windows !!!!

So would I!   Breaking windows is absolutely the last resort!

There used to be a guy driving around Stevenage a few years ago, advertising to those that had locked themselves out of their cars, and his services were charged at £100 for a call out.

He worked for one of the autoglass companies and would turn up with a piece of glass, a hoover and a brick !!

Well, finally (and after the rain) the key lock did not work at all, so I jack up the (heavy) car, took a pair of long wires (or cables?), connected them to my other car's battery, crawled under it and after six or seven attempts (with a friend's help, certainly)...  doors were opened !!

To prevent future episodes like this, I left the center back seat free to be opened from the boot.

Now you have the battery fixed, investigate why the locks don't work.
Then next time will be much less painful!
