I have a 2.2. Its actually not bad at all. Pretty nippy, economical and I find it good fun to drive as it has the sports suspension. Ok its no 3.2, but then neither are the fuel bills. My mpg is about 28.6 with predominantly town driving with occ motorway blasts. Best advice would be to drive it yourself and see what you think. Cannot comment on towing as I have never done that.

I'd say, the 2.2's are a great engine.. If they've had religious regular oil changes, else the cam chain oil jet blocks and the chain snaps, so as said, if yours is good, stick with that- you know what you've got then.

Omega 2.2 is belt driven. ;) But good advice on the oil changes, regardless. :y

Sounds like the Westfield's safe as a 4 pot, then. ;D

And there I thought that I was being knowledgable!! D'oh!! So they're not the same 2.2 then...

In the Omega:

2.2 16v is belt
2.2 DTi is chain

In the Vectra:

2.2 16v is also chain, but its a different engine  :)

.... I'd consider it a downgrade from what you have engine wise. What spec is 2.2? if elite, or cdx then maybe worth it over all, if thats your bag.
Elite only came with a proper engine, or diesels, throughout its production run. Never a 2.0 or 2.2 petrol one.
thought AndyVXLv6 has 2.2 dti Elite?  :-\

I have a 2.2 petrol and i would not advise towing with it, once you get a pace on it's a good cruiser but power will let you down, i just changed from summer 16's to winter 15's and you can actually feel the difference torque wise!! so that should be a good indicator! the car is too heavy for the 2.2 but is quite acceptable if you want a motorway cruiser, also i would be very wary if he's looking at trading to another omega it maybe a can of worms just waiting to spring!

:y hello hei mate, mine name is gibby, my Speed Bird y reg 2.2l z22xe silver as well has been a very good machine, very confortable, not very heavy on petrol and gas, but recently I change the head gasket. the reason was that the former owner was using normal water instead of anti-freezer coolant so the water created a groove under the head up to the third cylinder, then it started mixing oil and water. but its a good machine. gudluk.
