It can be a very easy misconseption for alot of people to make that homeless people have drug and drink problems as a matter of course, in the main this is the effect and not the cause, chatting to the guests yesterday and being aware of there situations there plight is what life has delt them. Family breakdowns and rifts, lost jobs and homes, mental health issues all take there toll. Also when you consider that many homeless are ex armed forces it is a very sad situation. There but for the grace of God?

Back to the subject I was chatting with a bloke" in the know" yesterday about the homeless, the point that he made is it's no wonder that they take drugs and get drunk when they are in the plight they are in. Could you imagine "being straight" with all to look forward to is to sleep outside in the cold with no prospects and not even knowing were your next meal is coming from.
Very true. Many homeless started out with big houses, jobs in the city & lost it all through divorce settlements, large companies going down, as said many are ex services who have put loads in beforehand so deserve help. Most of us with a job & mortgage are at risk at the moment. You never know when it can all come crashing in around you.
The only ones who are truly secure are those in council/local authority housing who manage to stay on the sick or keep sprouting sprogs to keep the family credit, rent & council tax benefit going. These benefits are in place for those who genuinely need them. Could happen to any of us. Industrial accident, severe illness. The irony is those who struggle to pay can end up sleeping rough on the same street others who don't work or have to pay are warm & safe in.
Does'nt quite sit right does it?
