Slight pull to the left
« on: 04 March 2012, 11:27:17 »

Noticed a slight and at times heavy pull to the left, it appears to be strongest at lower speeds. Doing say 85/90mph (on a track of course) its less noticeable, can sometimes track straight for a while.

Possible tyre pull? On Nexen N6000's all around

Going to WIM for a tune up next time i'm up the M40, but could something have slipped/moved?

WIM'd just a few months ago, only done around 1k since....  :-\

Might be worth swapping wheels front to rear to see if anything changes.Might help identify or eliminate cause. :-\

Remember that roads have a crossfall or camber from the crown of the road to the kerb/gutter.  Might just be that, now the tyres have worn in a tad.   :y

Did occur to me  :y

However some sections of the A40 are freshly done, but there still could be unseen cambers. It just feels very noticeable  :-\

Yeah thats was my thought too, however to get back and change them, i have to go virtually past WIM anyway, so thought i'd get a tune up

Might find the suspension has settled since fitting. If so, it will have a lower ride hight than when set up, so settings may have changed and need correction. A slight pull isn't too much to worry about, but check inside edges of tyres.

Not sure how long to leave it before the it settles finally, a few more miles maybe? :-\

And as H21 says, it's important to take the road crown into account.

Cheers Chaps  :y

Give it another 500 miles then? Then tune up in the summer?

Main thing is to keep an eye on the tyre wear, up to you how long to leave it, depends how bad the pull is and how much it annoys you.

Might be worth a call to Tony, see what he says. Also interesting to see how much the settings differ from previous. Or, what the cause is. Might be something else. Can't tell from here. But IME there is always a settling in period when suspension is disturbed.

the pull is annoying me quite a bit  :(

Last time went in when something did not "feel right" it needed a front only adjustment, so only charged me half normal price  :)

Worth a look over it, see if the pressures are ok, or anything obvious. But if the pull v irritation equation is anything to go by, sooner rather than later.

As said, it's not "my" rather car  up to you.  ;)

Make sure the tyre pressures are the same across the axles as well. A slightly soft tyre on fns will act with the cross fall and make it seem much worse than it is.
