Chap I work with has a 2004 Audi A4 1.9 TDi. Noticed today he was not in it, so asked him about it. Said it blown the turbo on it, common fault apparently on these 

Cost of replacement turbo? £400 

Add in a little servicing and fitting, £700 bill 

Still not fixed, its making more noises now & they think its oil pressure related. So going to Audi for a £150 max fee for a diagnosis on its issue.

Then its going back to the garage to fix what ever is broken 

Got less than 100k miles on it to!

I get annoyed at £85 a cam cover bill

1.9TDi turbos are fairly robust, but often misdiagnosed, and the real fault are the porous vac tubes.

Its a sad fact that Audi dealers are every bit as bad as Vauxhall dealers...

I should add, Mrs TB's dad's old A4 TDi, now owned by an ABS member, is on its original turbo, despite several misdiagnosing by "specialists", at 274k...

turbo for 2.2 or 2.0 dti cost same as one for audi
and if you take your omega to VXL or any garage who dont do lots work on omegas you will see big bill too

I do work on cars from VW group and if owner look after them they go easy over 300K petrol or diesel car

sometimes you need some luck with car too

no surprise.. I have seen passat diesel changing turbo several times without result.. they dont change oil frequently and turbo cooling channels blocked..

why i like owning this isuzu........it just starts and runs and has done faultless for 2 years 

Had our 3.1 Bighorn for 3 years and the only money it required (other than basic servicing) in that time was £300 on 2 tyres (BF Goodrich A/T).

The biggest issue with that engine is the stupidly long service intervals........if there stuck to then they dont see the high mileage sadly as the 1.9 PD is a pretty good lump

Steady on I know you like your Isuzu, but please keep that info to yourself

My father has an Skoda Octavia with 1.9tdi engine.
115 000 miles, 11 years old, never a single problem with the car.
Engine is dry like Sahara desert, no oil anywhere.
The only thing to note with these engines is if you had a longer run leave the car iding for half a minute before turning it of.
This helps keep turbo and Bosch pump in good condition
Although I must note that it is bloody awful car to drive
