LPG. I give up...
« on: 04 March 2012, 18:52:10 »

Gone up from 77.9 to 85.9 overnight, where I am. No other stations viable for me to fill at nearby. Joke.

At 600 miles to a tank, this tractor may just be staying as my workhorse!!

And I was having a moan that mine (countrywide account) has gone from 73.93 to 76.08 ! Rise of 2.16 p (2.92%)

But as the last rise was 1st May I reckon they've done well to hold the price for almost a year. Petrol has gone from £1.32 to £1.37 in that time ... rise of 5p (3.79%)

so LPG is still doing well ..... just !!

I got to see a range of petrol prices on the way to wales yesterday - some of them are becoming truly eye watering, LPG included :-/

Although the cheapest - by far - was Port Talbot motorway services, actually cheaper at the Shell there than at my local Sainsbury for petrol & diesel.

BTW, James, is that 600 to a tank on the motorway or around town, and manual or auto?

The more people use it, the more the government will tax it. They did the same to diesel owners years ago so it's not going to be any different where LPG is concerned.

LPG is still too niche for heavy taxing still.

I sId about 6 weeks ago that LPG had surged on price, maybe it's taken that long in some parts to filter through.

Currently still paying 71.9 - 75.9 around my commute

I guess your lucky enough to have some local competition ... Swindon has but 3 sources.. 1 garage (Shell), 1 Calor depot (hardly ever open) and 1 account only (countrywide) .. so no competition whatsoever.

I visit my daughter in Cardiff, where there are around 20 outlets, including 2 supermarkets (ASDA, Morrisons) and the last price (15/02/2012) was 67.7 p/ltre ...

Amazing what a little competition can do .. :(

Fortunately this government have committed to keeping the duty difference the same for another 4 years (I think) although that's no guarantee they won't backtrack on that ::) Although if they want to continue pushing the green agenda it will be hard to justify a backtrack ;) ;)

Plus, as TB says, it's still too niche at the moment :y

From 75.9p - 82.9p per litre round this way for LPG.  :(

Was still 75.9 at the BP today... Cheaper than my local which is 78.9 now (went up 4p this week but 7p in the last 10 days :o)

Unless you are happy either driving a diesel or driving carefully it still makes sense to me too ;) My 3.2 couldn't get more than 300 miles to a tank of petrol, even if I was being reasonably good ::) What's a full tank of petrol nowadays? £95+

I can get 230 miles from a £50 tank of LPG no matter how I drive, a little more on a run :y

Still a saving in my book ;) ;) Mind you, my conversion has paid for itself already so not too worried now ::)

Of course, the fact that my car hasn't done more than 400 miles in the last 4 months is also a big money saver ::) :D
