Anyone remember my latest boat project?
« on: 07 March 2012, 11:39:09 »

Well I have been slogging away for some time now on and off what with work and this illness but some will remember, especially those that made it to the Hampshire Cambelt meet that I had bought a new boat for a project.  She was in a very sorry state and rather than bore you with all the details and take up OOF server storage here is a link to another website where I have been documenting the rebuild.  Jenny is nearly done and about 2 weekends work away from being relaunched.

The only problem I have left is I now have to tell the wife what I have been doing while she has been away on work trips over the last 18 months :D

So .. the next OOF meet can be on the water? ;)

I'd love a boat (I love the water - many years ago before becoming a fat bastard I used to windsurf) but I suspect it'd become an even bigger money pit than cars ;D

That is an impressive job!  :y

I feel a summer meet coming on.

Shall I meet you on the Costa del Sol? They would find you a berth for your boat in Marbella harbour. Might be able to get some press coverage too. Something like "Disadvantaged OOFers sail from England for charity to meet up with their advantaged CDS brethren". or similar.

Unfortunately I am not around this summer but next year expect it at meets in lieu of a tent ;D

My parents have a proper yacht (40 ft) berthed in Alicante, although they are fair weather sailors which doesn't suit my sailing on the edge and use seamanship attitude to sailing.  I normally take a dinghy across to the Isle of Wight from southampton, or from Lymmington down to Poole, very doable in the right conditions.  I got this boat for the wife as after a few hours she is cold and bored and wants to go back in, whereas I am just getting warmed up.  Now I have a small cabin she can go inside for a bit and sleep/read :y

;D Indeed. You know it makes sense! ;)

Now that is the kind of boat I'd like.. still, if you should happen to have sailed down to Poole one day when I'm visiting the folks down there, I shall expect a ride out ;) ;D

Very noble of you. :y Now you've just got to stop her going into orbit when she finds out about it.  ;D

I think she's used to it now, besides I was calm when she spent $5k on a diamond earing/necklace set without asking me  :y
