Log book issue
« on: 07 March 2012, 17:58:36 »

I seem to find all the rotten pears when I go looking for cars  ???

I've found a car local to me but there's a issue with the log book. I don't believe anything dishonest is going on I've heard of this happening before but don't know how to sort it. The log book states the car is a MV6 but it's not. It's a Elite down to and including the service book. Now can I just send of the log book when I register it and change the name? Or is it more difficult. Has anybody done this before?

I've heard of this happening several times here on the OOF, so I would tend to agree with you that there is nothing 'iffy' with the car :y

Mine is exactly the same. Elite registered as a MV6. There ain't too much you can do about it..DVLA didn't seem to care when I pointed it out to them.
When I got the car the log book went away as a MV6 and came back as one also. MV6 or Elite..they don't appear to care.

I heard that some Elite's like mine, fitted with lower sports chassis needed to be registered as "sports" not "saloon"...so the best VX could come up with
was to register them as the MV6.  Odds are your insurance company will say its an MV6 also....I've told every insurance company i've spoken to that its
an Elite but as long as the engine is the same they don't give a toss !

Wouldn't worry one jot about it to be honest.

And yes...mine is Yr: 2000

Yep it's a 2000 model. I haven't seen the car in the flesh yet but looking at the pics it does look like it sits a little lower. I had a snoop round the dvla site and there response is just to fill in the incorrect parts, send a covering letter and they will sort it. I will double check the chassis number etc and look as best i can to make sure it's not a ringer when I see it Saturday

Yeah, my Elite is a 2000W and registered as an MV6 on the log book. All the chassis numbers etc match up so I didn't see a problem.

Just proves a point doesn't it? The DVLA are mad. I have to send my license back every 3 years due to a gammy foot. I get so worried they will muck up my motorbike license I never send saying it's lost. So I've got it as evidence.

Ive got a 3.2 explod that thinks its a Vectra, according to AskMid.

Reminds me of buying mine, trying to get driveaway cover. Obviously I had to find the right combination of "V6 Special", "GLS", "MV6", "Elite", "3.2", undsoweiter.

Took me right back to the start and then went "are you sure it's not a Vectra?" "er, yes love, I'm looking at the car as we speak".
