Starting to become paranoid about how to resolve this miss fire I have now had for past few days and want to get it fixed tomorrow as weather forecast is for dry day.

Car starts and runs from cold but very lumpy.Will pull away and drive but as soons as any form of acceleration is applied car starts to jolt ,although will eventually get going. Feels better when only just applying throttle but any form of incline which requires additional throttle problem arises again.Car has not registered an EML code and no codes are stored.

If diss is playing up would this not effect 2 cylinders and car run alot worse as in effect only providing 2/3rds of output or can a diss problem just relate to 1 cylinder.

If lead is faulty how other than removing 1 at a time, and replacing all gubbins back onto allow car to run again,can these be checked

If fault with plug again how can these be tested individually without the need to remove plenum etc and then replace  for each cylinder on 2/4/6 bank.

Any extra advise appreciated.

Not always when a dispack breaks down do two cylinders go down, most of the time granted but not always. Have a had quiet a few that go on one.

You can remove a lead then start the car to see if it runs worse with a lead removed  or not as we had to do a few years ago. But, if you have a tech 2 or similar you can fire cylinders individually. You will also need a spark plug tester so you can see what voltage is being sent from the dispack. This then will also tell you if your leads are ok. If however all dispack and leads are fine it would then point to a spark plug.

my dispack caused misfire-No5 terminal was corroded?? Fitted new pack/leads an plugs still same as yours-crank sensor is only thing left-Now got code 19 come up so fitting new one this afternoon.

Thanks for advise and support as always ,guys.

Glad to say normal !!! service is restored and all 6 cylinders are firing as designed.Traced problem back to a slightly loose plug in # 6 pot.Also found the rubber sealing boot at the bottom of the plug lead had become detatched so resealed that with high temp silicone.Fitted 6 new plugs and gave all plug leads a thorough clean up and check over.

Going for a blast now but engine sounds loads smoother and very responsive again.

Good to hear from Mr.Loo-Knees and pleased to see you are back .You were missed ;D

Good to see you sorted this Amba.

I have bought an identical set of leads (in appearance) from Eurocarparts. they aren't numbered so i'm labelling them up 1-6 so i get the right length in the right pot. i take it that's the way to do it?

I have always found it is best to remove plenum and hbv to get at the dis pack easier that way you can see what you are doing.

Just remove 1 lead at a time and replace with new unless yours are bundled in a block of 3 with a cable cover.Make sure they are numbered at each end so you are certain that the cirrect number outlet from the dis pack goes to the correct plug.

I also applied a small smear of high temp silicone to the end boot of each plug lead where they go over the plug in the well of the head so they make a total contact,but that is probably over kill and just me becoming paranoid of getting another mis fire.

Bset of luck with your and just take it slowly and you will be fine. :y

Cheers Amba, but I've already got the disspac out and doing cam covers and replacing leads Saturday  :y

However, as said the new leads aren't numbered (or at least I can't find a number on them)  so to get them in the right plug well should I just match the lengths up?  :)
