I know, at least Dick Turpin wore a mask  ;D Is it any wonder that more & more people are running around with no insurance? Not that I ever would, I was out last week & stopped a young lad in a 2000 plate Saxo, we had a general chat about car stuff. He'd just passed his test 6 mths ago, 20yrs old. His insurance for the 1.1L £2700!!!  :o :o :o He only paid £850 for the car.

Well I've just bin fiddlin around wi the options.... now here's a thing. I've read the renewal & all my details & hers. Put them into an online quote and the quote its giving, from Admiral, for the exact same details now comes in at £1817.54??? That's a difference of nearly £300. I've got the reference no's. for the quotes and am gonna ring em up in the morning and hit em with it. BUT I've got a feelin they'll say 'that's for new customers only'??????

So tell them to cancel, then take it out online ;) ;)

Or just ask to speak to customer retentions ;)

Jason, I had exactly the same thing with Admiral last year.

I had 3 cars insured with them on a multicar policy, and had paid about £800 the previous year.  The renewal came through and it was over £1500!!  I did the same as you and got and online quote from them which was a little cheaper, then phoned them and went through all the 'let me speak to my supervisor' bollix.  Best they could get it down to was £1150.

Told them to stick it, and did the rounds.  I finished up with Aviva, who did the 3 cars for £700!

I fully expect to have to do it all again this year, and I wouldn't be surprised if I finish up back at Admiral.  It seems that there is absolutely no incentive to be loyal to your insurers these days.

I will be having a word with Admiral tomorrow, got a couple of insurances through today and they have charged me £125 for a 30 day policy on a 2.0l Mig, they quoted £31 something :o :o :o that quote was to include the £94 extra for the current Mig but had a separate invoice for that......I will be moving away from Admiral in September when we are due to renew, Master Vamps will be on his own, and I can go back to competitive quotes..... :y

Defo with Lazy on this. Some places have retentions, some don't but if they do speak to them and see what quote you can get.

if not cancel and reset up online... although some companies are wising up to this and won't allow the quote to go through as they're aware that customers are now smart and proactive.

HOWEVER, say they sell 1000 policies one day at the initial good deal to ''hoik'' you in, the companies actually don't make any money (or not much) in this initial year but they guarantee that a certain percentage of that initial thousand will stick around and make them money in the second year because they renew. it makes sense that every single person shops around and then the companies would be fekked.... but of course not everyone is proactive  ::)
