juddering under braking and veering to the left.
« on: 08 March 2012, 21:17:54 »

Hi,

sorry if this has been posted before but I hope somebody can advise me on if I have two seperate faults or if they are related?

Whilst driving, the car will wonder off to the left if I let the steering wheel go. I've checked the tyre pressures and they are all fine at 32 all round.

Secondly, when braking I can feel a slight judder / pulsation from the brake pedal and also a slight steering wobble, this can happen from 20mph upwards?

Any ideas? Thanks in advance for your help. :y

Wishbone bushes possibly for the pull, although could just be geometry ;)

Braking judder is likely to be discs past their best but could be wheel balance issue

Guess both could be caused by a really shagged wishbone bush

Cheers guys,

So I guess first port of call is to the car inspected and the wheel alignment checked over etc.

Chemix and national tyres are doing offers on there inspections so would it be ok to take the car there for a check over? Anybody had any dealings with these people before?

Thanks  :y

Juddering on brakes alone is a brake issue. Typically, check the inboard outer edge of the discs for a rust band eating in to the centre.

Pull to the left, "if", and it's a big if, all is sound with no faults is a set up issue. But previously worn tyres can also play a part.
As usual, check steering and suspension for faults, rectify, set up for full geo, fit new tyres if needed. :)

Failed wishbone bushes cause a random wobble on the steering wheel. Under braking accelerating coasting... Anything can set the wobble off at any time.
