Oh right. Ok let me know what you find out

Just checked, the codes I give have to be HD + Multiroom for the offer. So if you already have multi-room you effectively get another one.

Money was for £10.50/m you get HD + multi room, instead of the normal £20.50 price.

Box price may apply for the multi-room, but I'm sure if you haggle you can get a HD box for free.

To get the offer, as I did, if you already have multi room, you can pay £49 for another multi room box, get free installation, half price hd for 12 months and half price multi room for 12 months. As it's only a 12 month contract, I guess you could cancel after the half price offer if you didn't want it.

That's what I thought... Just not quite what I need ::)

Don't suppose you have a way of making our package cheaper?

We've already got all the channels, just would like them cheaper if possible.

I doubt Sky will ever drop their prices, but they could partially justify them by bringing the tech support back to the UK and offering a freephone number for when people do have to call them.

For mobile products, support is based in Scotland  :y

Not a lot of use for the standard users though Tunnie.

We had Sky installed a couple of years ago and it was nothing but problems from day one with picture break-up's, failed recordings, etc.
The fact it didn't work as it was supposed to was annoying enough, but what used to piss me off even more was that I had to make a chargeable phone call and then wait for god knows how long (being charged per minute don't forget) to talk to a goat herder whose 3rd language wasn't even close to english, let alone his first.

I truly lost count of the amount of (recorded) phone calls I had to make before a dish monkey put in an appearance, and they still couldn't make it work properly after 2 seperate visits spanning a 7 week time period.
I eventually got the hump, rang them, got put through to CS in Lothian, made a point of telling them I was recording the call so there was no argument over who was saying what, and the response I got was " What you are doing is illegal, and I won't discuss this issue with you if you are recording the call"

I told him he should familiarize himself with the Telecommunications Act before quoting law, and then also pointed out that the call was being recorded at his end anyway so I couldn't see what the problem was.
After a good 20 mins of arguing the semantics of call recording, he finally agreed to discuss the problem. However by then he had pissed me off enough to the point where I wouldn't have kept the product if they paid me and I was cancelling the (now 7 week old contract) on the basis that Sky had failed to provide the services they promised.
I got given the usual "you will be subject to pay what you would have paid for the 12 months if you leave now" spiel, to which I replied I would be more than happy to see them in court.

No further action followed of course, but the entire interaction left me with the feeling that Sky considered themselves to be big enough to ride roughshod over people and do whatever they like. I suspect they get away with mugging quite a few people off like that, it was just unfortunate for that particular CS rep that he encountered the dog with lockjaw on that day.  ;D

It's for that reason alone that I personally don't have a good word to say about them, although I suspect the userbase is now large enough for them not to care about the end of year profits if a small percentage walk.

I'm sorry you had a poor experience, I have no defence of Sky for that. I know Philrich had an appauling install done by some crappy contractors, I had it raised internally though and resolved by genuine installers who were shocked at it too. Its been noticed that's an area of issue for us  :(

I personally have little dealings with the TV broadcast side of things. I work with our mobile products & the only team that deals customer mobile issues is in Scotland.

Mainly because they have to have devices to test & replicate what the customer has, one reason my team is still here. I/We always try and do our best in our team to resolve issues, even though I'm 3rd line & never usually deal with customers. We had an ongoing issue with a chap in Isle of Man, from his e-mails forwarded to us by Customer agents in Scotland, this chap clearly knew his beans.

So I asked to contact him direct, I needed to get some information only his phone could provide (his 3G gateway IP) Quickly had his issue resolved, he was happy.

Even though its all under one badge, Sky News, Sky TV Broadcasting, Sky Sports & the mobile side of things, they are run almost completely separately.
