Camshaft experiments - advice needed
« on: 12 March 2012, 20:45:00 »

Right, so I've got two cars here and some time - I'm intending to get to the bottom of this 3-litre cams thing. I'll do a couple of dyno runs per vehicle in just about the same conditions as I can manage

2.6 manual. Standard configuration and then swapped for which cams ?

3.0 manual. Standard and then which cams ?

 From what I've read
2.6 to 3.2 cams
3.0 cams not worth fiddling with.

2.6 to 3.0 cams (or 3.2)

3.0 replace the exhaust cams with inlets .....will be interesting to see if it makes any difference  :y

can do, yes.

I'm specifically testing the theory that 3.0 cams in a 2.6 will add to the power without a re-map, so I'll be testing if your cams make any more power in an Omega without a re-map.

what spec are they ? are they compatible with standard valve springs ? will they cause piston clearance problems ? how should they be timed up ?

they have nearly same lift as standard cams so can use strandard valve springs and timing its same as normal cams

I had 3.0lt cams in my 2.5 and it was noticeably better past about 3.5k revs but didn't notice anything below that :( which is where an auto could have done with more oomph.
