Water leak

As well as my Miggy I have a MK2 1600 Escort.Might be checky but can I ask if anyboby knows if there is a core plug at the back of the engine inside the bell housing ,I have a very small water leak coming at the base of the  join on the bell housing or dripping off the starter motor. Any ideas?
