Cooler - which type shall I buy ?
« on: 16 March 2012, 14:05:26 »

There are two types of cooler I could buy for my Omega B :

(the blue arrows stand for rubber hoses)

I have aircon....but I have the one    WITHOUT   those 21mm outputs.

There's a small pump that helps coolant to circulate, it is at the end of HEATER HOSES(going to heater matrix), under expansion tank :

When I buy a brand new cooler, shall I buy one WITH those extra outputs and two more hoses and that extra aux pump ? (please note : I DO have aircon!)

Or is that pump (that I already have) enough ?

If I buy the one WITH the extra pump :
 - Where that pump should be attached ?
 - How does its wiring connector look like ? I'm not even sure if I have that one at all.

AFAIK its only the 3.2 that has the 2 aux cooler pumps- at the bottom of the radiator and just next to the header tank, think plods have two pumps though regardless of engine but could be wrong

You are  ;) ;) ;) My 3.0 only has the one pump, but I've seen other cars of a similar vintage with two!  :y :y

No idea what went where, the pump by the header tank is something to do with the winter pack I think, mine's an Elite & the cruise gubins is fitted there.  :y

yeah the purpose of the pump is to circulate warm coolant for the heater even when engines off IIRC

I've got the facilities to run the heater with the engine off but I though that used the pump by the radiator

i thought it used the one next to the header tank then the second is just the auxillary-aux pump :P

The pump by the rad is to circulate coolant around the block when the engine is hot & has just been switched off to prevent hot spots being created in the block/heads.  :y
