Help water leak
« on: 16 March 2012, 19:49:48 »

I am looking for some advice if someone can please. I put water into my water expansion tank and it drains straight out as I can hear a gurgling sound and see water coming from underneath the car. If I blow into the expansion tank I can hear the air coming out and the water pours straight out. As you look at the engine the water pours out the passenger side of the engine near the bulk head. If anyone could give me an idea of what the problem could be would be most helpful. Please. Thank you in advance  :'( :( :'( :'( :'(

What engine have you got fitted ?

Hbv ( heater bypas valve )

Looks like a flying saucer with 3 water pipes going to it and 1 small vacuum pipe.  :y

If you remove the plastic cover at the base of the windscreen, you should be able to see where its coming from  :y
The hbv is normally clipped up near the bulkhead drivers side ish but if its been moved around, it could be anyware at the back of there. ( my bugger was )
The coolant bridge is smack bang in the middle of the engine at the rear.
It has iirc, 2 water pipes going to it.

If its pouring straight out as you fill it, more likely to be the "kinky" rubber hose that runs from coolant bridge to HBV - at back of block.  HTH  :y

to do that repair would I need to remove the head of the engine  :( :( :(

Might be easier if you undo the plenum bolts and move it forwards a little but remove the plastic covers first and have a look  ;)
Don't worry too much about it, its not that bad of a job to do  :)

It's OK, I'm only pulling your leg.  ;)

Your 3.0 V6 has 24 valves like all the other V6 engines in an Omega.  :y :y

No just need to remove plenum plus inlet manifold to replace that hose.
