new car
« on: 17 March 2012, 23:35:01 »

Well I have bought a replacent for the omega.  Its an 02 plate astra 2.2 SRi 3dr in Silver. Going to get it tomorrow and will post some pics. Ideally wanted a 1.8 or a diesel but this was priced right and should get 35mpg still :y

Does that mean you'll be defecting to the Astra Owners Forum then ::) ???

Bit of a difference from an Omega though I'll have to admit.  Mind you I did have an SRi Astra, and I found the SRi seats were too firm in the back rest and not a lot of give for comfort, support yet, but comfort no.

I won't mention about the Astra being easier to park on your drive though... Opps just have ::) ;D

Well just got back from picking it up from manchester and all is fine. Drives well, very nippy. Surprised with the spec. The guy said it had a few options but apart from the standard SRI spec its got:

HID Headlights with Washers
4CD Changer
Full Enclosure Alarm
Rear Parking Sensors
Side Airbags
Irmscher Backbox which is only 2 years old.
Irmscher Grill

It had the Chain replaced at 71000 miles in 2008 and its now on 112000 with part history. Guy who i bought it off was a vauxhall fan and had serviced the car himself so im happy. Last oil change was in August so will get one done next week

How often should the chain be renewed on the 2.2?

Thought you were going to get a diesel for economy and low tax? Sounds like an excellent car though, looking forward to the pics  :y

Assuming you paid 135.9p per litre, that's 11.04 litres of fuel, or 2.43 gallons. Therefore your economy is 34.98 mpg :y
