As far as i am aware the 2.2 uses the simtec 71 ecu which is encapsulated and therefore can not be taken apart, the only way to update the software on this ecu is via tech2 and i do not think that anyone has created a performance map for it either,

Yep. Have never seen any form of tuning option for the 2.2. Best bet is to swap it for a V6. :y

yep..if you want performance, 2.2 automatic not worth the effort.. :-\

better sell the car (not necessary the hassle of swapping ) , buy a V6 manual..

ah well it was worth a try asking if anyone knew if anyone had done this  ;) ... V6 ( preferably a face-lift )  is on the list of things to get this year.  :y

No more likely to break than a 4 pot though .......  ??? ??? You could say that as they're less stressed, they're more likely to live longer. There's  a mere 176000 miles on mine & all still OK  :y :y

Conversely her 40000 Smart had a whole shed load spent on it over Christmas.

I'd never consider a 4 pot of any flavour in a car the size of an Omega .............  ;) ;) ;)

Take your time, buy wisely and the V6 is the only way to go IMHO for a car the size of the Omega.

Mine is the first V6 I've ever owned...would never go back to a 4 pot now......in fact I'm looking to go up a notch to the V8 Monaro.
