OK, you should have got a 31 or a 19 as well.

The fact you didn't, and given the symptoms - including the erroneous 73 - I would be inclined to replace the crank sensor.

thanks for all your help theboy , i think you could be right , thought i used to get 31 when i papercliped it a few years back :)

Hi, problem sorted new air flow mass sensor was faulty, replaced with a secondhand bosch item
and omega happy again. :)

i have the same problem so off to get a mass air flow meter... more money.  in middle of changing the timing kit, waterpump and suspect i need new rocker cover gaskets :(

Hi, regarding mass air flow meter make sure you get a genuine Bosch item or you can end up chasing your tail , hope repairs all go well. :)
