I have a 2000 omega 2.5td. it has no first gear but will start in third with the snow button on then i can take it off aftter around 30mph and it will go to 4th and also drop to 2nd. Is ther any way of getting it to start in second all the time instead of first?

A couple of things I'd be looking at before I go about changing things

Have you checked the Autobox fluid level, the gear selector is sitting in the correct position, and are you able to get to anywhere where you can have a code reader give you any codes?

try selecting low on the selector lever, sounds like dirty switch to me,(selector switch on side of gearbox)
