...will be clogged and not release the fluid? If so am I right in thinking that I should undo the nut all the way, take the valve out, ''wire wool'' the bugger and replace?

Also rear jacking point....is it just behind the factory-jack point? I had a quick look and there seems to be a big triangular piece of metal leading from the wheel with a big nut. Is this what's called the control arm?  :-\ Is this ok to use to jack?

Finally is it safe to jack up in the wet? I would have said no but what do you think?

Cheers all :)

Nope. I reckon the bleed nipples will be fine. They may even have dust covers on.

Go easy unscrewing them if they are tight. They can shear off, which is a PITA.

Jacking up on the centre of the triangular section will be fine.

No particular problem in the wet, other than the hazard of you slipping, and getting a wet @rse while lying under it. ;D

Ok .. just my thoughts .....

The "triangular plate " .. that should be the rear bush retaining cover .. It is safe to jack on that ... but finding somewhere for an axle stand is then trickier.. do NOT use the rear control arms for the axle stands .. there is a very high risk that the stand will slide. I use the jack over the corner of that triangular piece, then place the axle stand in the middle of it .. if that makes sense. ( awaits incoming .....  )

Jacking in the wet is not a major problem unless the surface is really slippery .. ie glazed blocks etc .. my "ramp" is concrete and fairly rough .. so nothing slides on it ... but I always use axle stands, chock the wheels and place the removed wheel under the car as a precaution ....

If the bleed valve does not "work" after a full turn and a slight pressure of the pedal then before removing it to "persaude" it to function use a pair of molegrips on the rubber brake hose as a clamp to stop fluid dripping out of the hole. If fluid is leaving, air is getting in to replace it .. and bleeding will be far more difficult.

HTH  :)

Thay all makes sense. Thanks Entwood ;)

However, why not just take the valve out and clean it? Just thinking that would be the easier course of action?

UPDATE

Ralf's brakes have been bled and has new brake fluid.... cheers for the ''how to'' tunnie.

Was really piss easy job. however i did manage to cover myself in brake fluid and cover the engine :( basically i had my big 5L bottle of brake fluid. i went to put it in, realised that wasn't going to work for me. so i went back to the garage to fill a cup/smaller bottle but before that the bottle fell out my hand covering me and the engine :( any chance i'd have done any damage firstly to me as i got it on my skin and secondly to the engine?

other than that was great. i bled and flushed and changed. i now have a rock solid brake pedal!!! wooo hoooo

cheers all.

I thought we cured the "single word answer"  ;D. The bear could benefit from a detailed explanation as to why not  :D ::) ::)

Nah, I shouldn't think so given you washed it off and didn't let it sit  :y

BTW it's not great for your hands, either ;D but your skin isn't about to fall off, don't worry.
