Cal Crutchlow
« on: 07 April 2012, 23:24:46 »

What a great start Cal Crutchlow has got to the Motogp season, qualifying third and on the front row of the grid.  :y :y :y

Only Stoner (2nd) and Larenzo (1st) in front of him.  :y :y :y

Nice to see him doing well........Stoner is in another league imo, never seen anyone ride a bike like that guy does total animal.
Would be good to see Rossi doing a bit better as well...thought he would have got that duke sorted by now.

Great to see Crutchlow doing well. Hes a really gutsy rider, hopefully a bright future ahead of him.
Dont know whats going on with Rossi. Is it just a matter of he cannot get on with the Ducati ? Or has his confidence gone ?
I think its possible that he lost his edge after the bad leg break a couple of years ago. Iirc it was the first time he had seriously injured himself. His team mate hayden (who I have never rated very highly tbh) is 5th on the grid,Rossi is last of the motogp bikes.Something very badly wrong indeed.Hope he can come back from whatever has gone wrong. Its hard to believe that the greatest rider ever can lose his way that badly, permanently. :-\
Assuming for a moment that if he wasnt on the Ducati his problems would be gone - I would love to see all the top riders on the same bikes. If they were all currently riding a Honda, my prediction would be Rossi in first,Lorenzo 2nd,Stoner 3rd.

Good on Crutchlow but his results last season werent that good remember, he's on a steep learning curve but hope he does do well, he's got a lot of stiff opposition and he has a lot of experience to gain. And dont go discounting Rossi, remember it is he who has made the Hondas and Yamahas the bikes they are, between him and JB, if they cant get a bike to work, nobody can! Also, Rossi is a fantastic strategist, the mind games he plays and knows what and when to play to the other riders minds and this years bike has been built by himself and JB to their standard and not Ducatis wants, eg why is Hayden 5th in practice an Rossi 10th even though Hayden has a good handle on the bike? Watch this space, its only the first race of a very promosing season lol!

Five years ago perhaps. I think the old boy (Rossi) is a little past his best these days.

I would never ever discount Rossi without a lot of hard evidence over a prolonged period.I can remember armchair expert workmates of mine telling me he had lost his hunger and his edge when he was battling with Sete Gibernau, and that was a long time ago.
Ducati is in chaos behind the scenes. The money men who own the company are trying to flog it to the highest bidder.Rumour has it that Audi may be buying it.
Rossi & JB did a cracking job sorting out Yamaha, but I get the feeling that Ducati dont work in such a way that they can have the same influence that they did at Yamaha.

Cal Crutchlow best of the non-factory bikes and he beat his team mate, who is no slouch.  :y :y :y

Lorenzo also did well.

Rossi over 5 seconds behind Hayden, who is not known as the fastest rider in the world. What is going on?  :-\

Colin Edwards fastest of the CRT riders.

In Moto 2, Scott Redding 6th and Bradley Smith 9th.

Moto 3: Danny Kent 8th.

5 British riders got respectable results, a good days racing.  :y :y :y

Re Rossi. I wouldn't be suprised if his heads gone, given one of his best mates died under his own wheels last year. He's had the whole of the off season to think about that.

Although he's tough enough mentally to deal with it, I wouldn't blame him in the slightest. Bless him.

Hayden will ride round issues. It appears the Doctor won't

He has been always been known for his ability to ride round issues though.Never known anyone who could ride on  knackered tyres like him.The situation is bizarre to say the least. His confidence may have completely gone,or maybe he has zero confidence in that bike. Tbh,I would have thought that if his confidence had gone for whatever reason, he would be clever enough to recognise it and walk away before he started doing serious damage to his reputation. :-\

Confidence will return, given enough time.

From the commentary, he doesn't appear to be getting much sympathy from the Italian press. Last thing he needs is agro, "if" it's a confidence problem.
