Bodywork retro-fitting
« on: 16 April 2012, 20:11:25 »

Hi, everyone....What is required to fit FL front and rear bumpers onto a PFL car ie if not a straight fit, what modifications/extra fixings are needed ??  Aware of amalgamated bonnet/grill at the front, Cheers in advance

I put a F/L rear Bumper on my Mf/L - you need the F/L backing bar, the polystyrene infil (if you can be bothered) and the bumper itself. All the holes/fixing points are the same, AFAIR.

Right, so you're saying the backing bar for the FL is different to the backing bar for the PFL/MFL ??

F/L rear bumper fits straight on. Fitted this one on an Oofers car using existing MFL foam & backing bar

That's brill.  Completely transforms the rear end on the pre fl car!    Would a FL Boot and rear wing lights fit too?  (Although you'd not be able to open the boot...)

I've not done it, but there were pictures here years ago where someone had done what you're asking. I think you'd have to go the whole hog and swap the face lift bonnet, grille & headlights over too because otherwise you'll have problems where the face lift bumper meets the prefacelift grille.  :-\ :-\

when i swapped my mfl bumper for a f/l i had to have the backing bar, polysterene bit facelift bumper a lot bigger than mfl,  and also the rear inner wheel arches  :y  the ones on the mfl screw straight into the bumper whereas on the facelift bumper they screw to the bumper from underneath  ;)
