I find it difficult to cream my jeans over a mobile phone.  Am I just too old for this shit?
You're in the crApple gang nowadays so probably. ;D ;D

Up until 2 years ago my attitude was a phone is made for making & receiving calls ONLY.
I couldn't be arsed with SMS (and still can't), but since having a "smartphone" I just kind of "got the bug" and have sat here since thinking of different ways to improve on what is already available (eg, hardware based call recording, removing the SMS limit of 10 recipients, etc).

I doubt very much I would have progressed as far as I have if I had been working in my normal profession, but it gives me something to do while sat on my arse having poison infused in to me on a twice weekly basis.
True, I used to do similar in the WinMo area, not just in the ROMs, but application programming as well...  ...although pre WinMo 5, the fundamental flaw of battery dying wiping all data made it a poor choice...  ...but the only choice.

My next was the NEC ETACS based one,
I had one of them.

when I got the excellent 2110 "brain fryer"
You ain't wrong there, worked just about anywhere at the expense of getting cancer (or any other RF related disease).
Thinking about it, given the way we work these days I'm thinking maybe I can find a solicitor to sue Orange for my current predicament  ;D

Yeah, true.  Done my stint messing with others, mostly Windows, and a brief fling with Android, but the gayPhone just does what it is supposed to. After frustrations with other OS's, I'm happy to be gay. Except crApple voice dialling is abysmal.

I blame my poor short term memory on the 2110, and my 3yrs of £600 a month mobile bills ::)

What about the old motorola brick with the rubber duck aeriel right next to your ear hole whenever you were using it.
We used one of those when I was on the caravan shifting job. Cost my gaffer over a grand when he bought it.

Just a heads up.. My SG2 did a large update yesterday. Not sure of the benefits but it was well over 200 megs. Make sure your near a wifi when it comes

That's the 4.0 ICS update  :y
/Pedantic mode on

It's 4.0.3 actually  ;)

/Pedantic mode off

PS
And yes, it is still buggy under certain scenarios.

how do you get this download, does it just happen when in wifi  range?

Depends on your network if it's auto pushed down, or you have to connect up the cable and check for updates

It's down to your carrier what updates get pushed down to your phone unless you fancy using a non standard rom.
I'm sure Martian will be able to advise further about that.

This was the second brick I had - the first was even bigger. ;D

The bills were as large as the briefcase I had to use to carry the buggers about so getting the Motorola Startac (?) flip was luxury itself - altough the bills remained as stellar as the name of the handset. ;D ;D

Jesus H Christ, your entire head must have been ready to eat being subjected to that amount of RF abuse

Image snipped..

I had one of those, it went under the name of the Motorola 4800x Transportable (Transportable so long as you were built like Geoff Capes  ;D )
